Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Zarifi visited the alliance’s headquarters on 2 July. During a meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer the sides discussed further strengthening of bilateral relations and further use of existing mechanisms of partnership. “Mr. Zarifi proposed using NATO’s potential to improve border and customs infrastructure at the border with Afghanistan, and to train personnel in the relevant areas”, the Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry stated.
